Blake Shelton is having quite the whirlwind year.

Despite recently filing divorce from his wife of four years, Miranda Lambert, he rebounded with fellow The Voice judge Gwen Stefani, was recently announced as the host of Nickelodeon's 2016 Kids' Choice Awards, and now, it has been revealed that the country music superstar will be honored with the CMT Artists of the Year Award in the sixth year of the prestigious special's running.

In addition to Shelton, fellow top country stars including Little Big Town and Sam Hunt will be honored for the first time, in addition to returning recipients Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. The live special packed with musical tributes and celebratory toasts is set to air from Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Dec. 2.

In years past, the telecast has featured star-studded performances including Adele and Darius Rucker covering Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," Lionel Richie and Bryan collaborating in a mashup of "Oh No" and "All Night Long," and Maroon 5's rendition of Taylor Swift's "Mine." While the lineup of performers and appearances will be released in the coming weeks, we can only imagine how well this affair will shape up to be.

Shelton and the four other musicians included in the nominee pool this year join an impressive club of previous recipients including Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Swift and Shelton's ex, Lambert, who was recognized on the CMT stage just last year. Awkward.

In fact, during Lambert's acceptance speech, she offered a heartfelt moment of recognition to her then-husband. In hindsight, the moment is a bit hard to swallow.

"My husband, I always forget to thank him, but he's my rock—Blake Shelton," she said at the podium

Shelton later tweeted about his former partner, posting a photo of her speaking.

"To the most important person I know. You deserve the CMT artist of the year honors @mirandalambert. I love you," he tweeted.

We wonder if his newest flame, Stefani, will join him along the red carpet this year—just a few more weeks to find out.
