Well, that's probably not the wedding present Vincent and Catherine were hoping for.

E! News has learned that Beauty and the Beast will come to an end after season four. The series, which is set to wrap production later this month, will air its final 13-episode season sometime midseason/summer 2016. An exact premiere date and time will be announced later.

Starring Smallville alum Kristen Kruek and Jay Ryan in the lead roles, Beauty and the Beast premiered in 2012 with a cushy Vampire Diaries lead-in and an average of 1.6 million viewers in its first season. After being pushed to the summer schedule, it saw that average erode in season three, however, to somewhere around 800k.

At the close of season three, which ended just last month, Ryan's Vincent and Kruek's Catherine finally tied the knot after years of obstacles standing in their way. The upcoming final season will take a look at how the couple handles married life on top of their various supernatural dramas.

The series was surprisingly renewed for season four, considering its low ratings, prior to season three even premiering, with the network seemingly high on the fan-favorite's potential as a summer series. Clearly, the high faded.
