Please tell us Quinn got the code wrong. Please.

We're only two weeks into the fifth season of Homeland, and there has already been a hit put out on poor Carrie Mathison. Things had finally become relatively stable for Carrie (Claire Danes): A new life with baby Frannie in Germany, a job in the private sector, and a hunky German boyfriend. We weren't foolish to believe it would last for too long. But Saul (Mandy Patinkin) making her the next target on Quinn's (Rupert Friend) hit list? That we never saw coming.

But there it was in tonight's final moments: Quinn's shaky handwriting spelling out M-A-T-H-I-S-O before what he was actually writing finally sunk in. Yep, someone at the CIA wants Carrie dead. Could this hit be connected to the bomb at the refugee camp in Lebanon that she just learned was also meant for her? Or is it possible more than one shadowy figure wants Carrie wiped out? And will we ever be able to look at Saul the same way after this, knowing he put the hit order in the P.O. box?!

Back in March, showrunner Meredith Stiehm told E! News that it would take time for Carrie and Quinn to get back to the connection they had at the end of last season. "It's two years later, and they've both moved on to other things," she said. "But something's always in the air and when they cross paths again, we'll see what happens. I'm excited to see where their paths cross." We just never thought that crossing path could mean lights out for Carrie!

Were you as shocked by Quinn's latest target as we were? Sound off in the comments below!

Homeland airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
