Latest Hollywood trend is all about the red eye

We're eyeing this summer beauty trend as a little risky.

You already knew this season was all about the unicorn rainbow hair, but the latest celeb beauty staple has our favorite style stars looking a little red in the eyes. Make that around their eyes, actually. Take Solange Knowles, who stepped out to perform at the 2015 FYF Fest in Los Angeles sporting a billowing crimson ensemble with matching Missoni mules and a bold rim of rose-red shadow coating her eyes. And we mean very bold—the shock of red color is the first thing we saw, and definitely the lasting impression.

Never one to shy from out-there beauty looks, Cara Delevingne tried the trend on for size at the Australian premiere Paper Towns on July 5, wearing a striking red-orange hue to complement her jade mini. The contrast really works, although we're pretty sure Cara could pull off almost any color around those big baby blues.

Jennifer Lopez, meanwhile, donned a metallic red hue during an American Idol taping in May—proving that she can be the most beautiful woman in the room even with eye makeup that can be mimicked by, well, most seasonal allergies.

This isn't Solange's first foray into wearing fiery eye makeup: The star rocked a blood orange shadow (a look slightly more subtle than her latest rendition) to the Kiehl's Pioneers By Nature Party in London on July 9.

Our verdict? We're not opposed to the trend—the way these ladies pull it off is definitely more sexy than sickly—but the red eye might be hard to wear for, you know, our day to day.
