Don't expect McDonald's to be rolling out a new line of Happy Meals to celebrate The Founder, the upcoming biopic about the fast food franchise's founder Ray Kroc.

Laura Dern, who plays Kroc's first wife Ethel in the film (Michael Keaton plays Ray), insists the film will be a "true depiction of how [McDonald's] came about and what it meant to Americans in really positive ways," but it will also depict the darker side of the business.

"I had a lot of curiosity about how we got here, we meaning Americans, in terms of the idea of the seemingly brilliant concept to serve 'unreal' food to make a lot of money and what it's done to America," Dern exclusively told E! News at the Maui Film Fesitval, where she was honored with the Rainmaker Award.

She said she was also most interested in Kroc as an individual and "what gets sacrificed when greed is a priority or self-loathing in a way is a priority to his own life."

Movie or not, Dern says she is "not a fan" of McDonald's.

"I am a fan of organic, non-GMO [foods]," the Wild star said. "I'm a hippy through and through. I mean. I had some fries in my early childhood but then I learned about partially hydrogenated oils. I had to eat fries that were made at home."

Directed by The Blind Side helmer John Lee Hancock, The Founder's cast also includes Linda Cardellini, Nick Offerman and Patrick Wilson.

McDonald's was started in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald. Kroc is credited for its worldwide expansion when he gained control of the company after a nasty feud with the McDonald brothers.

Coincidentally, it was announced today that McDonald's has hired President Obama's former spokesperson Robert Gibbs to help clean up its image as sales have declined and critics have become louder in their assertion that their food is unhealthy, according to Time.
