Remember when Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey pretended they wore the same gown? Well, that almost happened for real last night.

Dressed in perfectly color-coordinated ensembles, Debra Messing and Anna Chlumsky took the stage to present the Featured Actor in a Play award at the 2015 Tony Awards last night. Both in strappy crisscross designs in deep plum hues, the ladies weren't exactly identical. But c'mon—it's an uncanny coincidence!

Dressed in Sophie Theallet, Anna‘s plum gown featured a black leather trimmed neckline, offset by a satin merlot hem. And styled with a simple tousled updo, the Veep star's look conveyed a simple understated elegance.

On the flip side, Debra's Zac Posen number boasted a deeper purple hue and a shorter hemline (Side note: there were no less than four Zac Posen designs at the awards show last night!). With a statement amethyst ring and bold matching earrings, the 46-year-old actress held her own.

Alright—both ladies looked phenomenal, but who wore this plum hue best? Sound off in the comments below!
