Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello will to have a baby—it's just a matter of when.

E! News has the exclusive first look at the 42-year-old Hot Pursuit actress on the cover of Redbook's June issue. In the magazine, on stands May 26, she discusses her desire to procreate with the Magic Mike XXL actor. "Joe is younger than me. He's 38. He's never had kids. How am I going to say no? I tell him if we're going to do this, we have to do it, like, now, because I don't want to be 50 with a baby."

Vergara doesn't say whether she'll get pregnant or use a surrogate, as she did with ex Nick Loeb. (The two are currently in a legal battle over their frozen embryos.)

She does, however, explain why life has never been better since she met for Manganiello last year. "I finally realized that relationships don't need to be so much work. Ever since we met, it's been so easy," she tells the magazine. That being said, the Modern Family star confesses, "I'm very suspicious. I'm like, 'It's not normal that we've been together for nine months and we haven't had a big fight or anything.'"

One of the things that TV's highest-paid actress says she's learned about men since entering her 40s is that she needs "to let them be men."

"I think it's very important not to try to take over on everything—even if you think you can do it easier or better," says Vergara, who was married to Joe Gonzalez from 1991–1993 and dated Tom Cruise in 2005. "If you don't let them do things, you create a cycle and then you complain that they never do anything."

In fact, the only thing that Vergara and Manganiello disagree about is exercise.

"I hate it! I do Pilates. I'm in a bad mood two hours before and while I'm doing it and then I'm done, because I know I have to come back and do it again," the actress admits to Redbook. "I'm always asking Joe, 'Why do people always say they feel great working out?' I just want to go home and lie down."
