Something you might not know about the curvaceous Colombian Modern Family sexpot Sofia Vergara: She's blond. The Emmy and Golden Globe nominee (and SAG Award winner) dyes her hair to look "more Latin."
That bottle of dye was a good investment. Having wooed audiences as Gloria Pritchett, the single mom was named Forbes' highest paid actress on TV in 2012, with yearly earnings of $19 million.
That's a long way from dentistry, which had been the sexpot's initial career choice before a modeling scout spotted her on the beach when she was 17.
A few gigs led to a starring role in a Pepsi commercial, several TV appearances and, eventually, the role on Modern Family that launched her to fame.
Though she's known for bringing laughter to audiences everywhere, Sofia has had her share of troubles. She overcame a failed marriage, the murder of her brother in Colombia and a bout of thyroid cancer.
With all of that behind her, Sofia appears to be enjoying life. She has even found love again: During a July 2012 vacation to Mexico, businessman Nick Loeb popped the question with a huge rock.
"It is perfection," said the star famous for her love of luxury. "If it was bigger, it would be too big to wear. But if it was smaller, I would not like."
