Prince William has signed a book of condolence for victims of the Nepal earthquake, as fans continued to mount outside a London hospital where his wife Kate Middleton is expected to give birth to their second child any day.

More than 6,000 people have been reported to have been killed in the quake and aftershocks that have devastated the southern Asian country and surrounding regions. A photo of the book of condolence was posted on Kensington Palace's Twitter page on Friday.

"With my deepest condolences to the people of Nepal and my thoughts and prayers to all those affected," the 32-year-old prince wrote.

In addition, brother Prince Harry, 30, penned a letter thanking volunteers from the International disaster mapping charity MapAction who had traveled to Nepal to help survivors.

William and Kate, 33, were originally expected to welcome their second "Royal Baby," the younger brother or sister of 1-year-old son Prince George, late last month. William has so far continued his royal duties; Last week, he joined grandmother Queen Elizabeth II at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph to commemorate ANZAC Day and the Centenary of the Gallipoli Campaign.

Harry recently took a short leave from a temporary embed with the Australian Defense Force and traveled to his native London, to present medals at the London Marathon, fuelling speculation that he may be present for Royal Baby No. 2's birth. He has since flown back to Australia.

For about two weeks, scores of fans have flocked to the areas surrounding the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital, where the Duchess of Cambridge is set to arrive and give birth, with many decked out in patriotic apparel. On Tuesday, the couple sent fans camped outside pastries and hot drinks for breakfast.

In addition, bookies have been organizing bets about the child, with regard to the baby's sex, name and time of birth and as seen in the area on Friday, have been using some creative promotion methods.

Kate was spotted recently, but not at the hospital; The Duchess of Cambridge was seen earlier this week driving a black Range Rover and entering the gates of Buckingham Palace.
