Angelina Jolie plays with the public, and fire

Recently, this blogger bitched that Angelina Jolie was a "deceitful, wannabe publicist" for, among other reasons, the way she's peddling her new movie, Changeling, complete with breast-feeding pics and mucho discussions about her family. This from the woman who used to like the femmes, blood vials and old-dude assortment. Quite the change.

And yeah, of course, anybody's allowed, but I just don't buy it. You, on the other hand, are welcome to swallow hook, line and sinker, be my gullible guest.

But please. When you fry me for speaking my mind on the beloved subject of Saint Angie, as so many of you did (I can take it, no worries), at least do me the honors of recognizing when Jolie rewrites history, as so many aspiring publicists adore to do.

Specifically, when she told the New York Times last week that she fell in love with Pitt on Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and she can't wait for her kids to one day see it all go down on film. Well, if there was absolutely nothing but friendship going on during that flick (hogwash)—as Jolie and Pitt both so staunchly stated previously—then what's to witness after the fact? What's next? A DVD release from Jolie and Pitt with both stars describing the stages of their love affair, scene by scene?

This is all reminding me too much of the first time I was given word that Brad and Angie were seen kissing at L.A.'s downtown Standard before the movie came out. "They're just friends," Pitt's rep snapped. Yeah, with friendships like that, who needs lovers?
