"You can't do a slasher movie as a TV series."

Or can you?

MTV will attempt to answer that question this summer when their upcoming Scream series – based on the series of movies by the same name – debuts this summer.

Star Bella Thorne introduced the world premiere of the trailer tonight at the MTV Movie Awards, and it probably couldn't have made us more excited.

As big fans of the original 1996 movie, and most of the movies that followed, we're super excited to see that everything we originally loved about the films appears to be present: the blood, the beautiful people, the terror, the comedy, the characters who are somewhat aware they're in a horror movie…

Watch the trailer below and try not to get too excited!

The 10-episode series, from executive producers Jill Blotevogel and Jaime Paglia, tells the story of a cyber-bullying incident that results in a brutal murder and brings up memories of a killing spree from the past (wonder what that is) that has "haunted some, intrigued others, and maybe just inspired a new killer." With a killer on the loose, the series follows a group of teens as they become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets, and victims.

In a nutshell: Everyone's either going to hook up, die, or both (probably both).

We can't wait!

Scream premieres Tuesday, June 30 on MTV.
