The Walking Dead is the Madonna of TV shows and heading for another "reinvention" for season six, according to executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple.

Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick read a letter from Gimple following the season five finale that promised new twists ahead.

"Season 6 for a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat. At the start of our next season, that will change. I said the show reinvents itself every 8 eps, and we're doing it again, friendos," Gimple said in the letter. "Now that these characters know they have what it takes to survive, what are they going to do with that power? How will they choose to live? Beyond answering those questions, we're currently putting into motion some of our most ambitious stuff yet, and things are going to get very big, loud and scary."

So those wolf guys with the W on their heads might not be the big baddies we were expecting them to be…or will they?

Season five ended with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) returning to Alexandria with Morgan (Lennie James) in tow! They arrived just as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) shot the wife-hitting, hot-headed doctor Pete in the head after Peter killed Deanna's (Tovah Feldshuh) husband with Michonne's (Danai Gurira) sword. Meanwhile, Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Nicholas (Michael Traynor) beat each other up in the woods and decided to head back together, bloodied and battered. Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) tussled and then Maggie (Lauren Cohan) settled them down and prayed together.

Oh, and the aforementioned wolf guys found Aaron's backpack with photos of Alexandria in them. Uh oh…

So will Morgan stick around? "I'm allowed to say that I'll be there for one episode at least," he told Hardwick.

The Walking Dead returns this October, but first its spinoff, Fear The Walking Dead, premieres this summer. AMC released the first brief teaser during The Walking Dead's finale.
