Taylor Swift may reign supreme when it comes to generous gestures, but now her BFF Lorde is giving her a run for her money.

The singer decided to take a page out of Swift's book and send an adorable gift to someone in need, but this time the recipient wasn't a fan. She sent her little piece of goodwill to former X Factor New Zealand contestant Joe Irvine.

Irvine was the recent subject of bullying so intense that it caused X Factor to fire the judges responsible for the rude remarks. Natalia Kills and Willy Moon told him, among other things, that he was "a laughingstock," "disgusting," and that he looked like he was going to "stitch someone's skin to your face and then kill everyone in the audience." Oh, and that was all because of his outfit.

The backlash was so huge that it compelled the network to fire the two judges. Irvine received messages of support all across social media, but there was perhaps one gesture that made the most waves. Lorde herself caught wind of the bullying, and decided to send the aspiring singer a message of support—along with a dozen cupcakes to top it all off.

"Hi Joe, just wanted to say: Your individuality, positive energy, and spirit are infectious!" she said in the handwritten note. "I think you're doing an awesome job on the show so far. I'm a performer too, and I wanted to say that no matter how many people make fun of me for how I dress, move and act, I'm being me—and that's what's important. Good luck and lots of love, Lorde."

Joe was so smitten by the move that he took to Twitter to announce the gift. "Lorde sent me cupcakes thank you so much I love them," he tweeted, alongside a picture of what appears to be a dozen Sprinkles cupcakes.

You keep being you, Lorde.
