UPDATE: Buncombe County Medical Examiner Dr. Sharon Sweede tells E! News, "The Sheriff's Department has collected the remains suspected to be the two missing persons but that has not been confirmed yet. There has not been a positive identification of the remains. The process has started and is ongoing but I can't say how long it will take."

The Wake Forest School of Medicine who does most of the region's autopsies will be working to identify the remains and conduct "any other appropriate and needed examinations."

The results will not be released until the state's Chief Medical examiner's office signs off on it.

A North Carolina man has been arrested and charged with murder after former Food Network Star contestant Cristie Schoen Codd and her husband Joseph "JT" Codd were reported missing this week.

Codd, 38, and her 45-year-old husband were reported missing by family members on Mar. 15, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office confirms. A missing persons' report on the couple resulted in the arrest of Robert Jason Owens, 36, of Leicester, N.C.

Owens has been charged with two counts of felony first-degree murder, one felony count of breaking or entering, larceny after breaking and entering and free text felony. According to Buncombe sheriff Van Duncan, Owens, who owns a construction company, had previously done work at the Codds' home. Owens is also accused of stealing a laptop computer, jewelry and a handgun.

Owens is currently in the Buncombe County Detention Facility.

While the Codds are still reportedly missing from their residence, authorities did find their vehicle and two dogs at their home in Leicester.

Codd appeared on season eight of Food Network Star on Alton Brown's team.

Family members also told local media outlets that Codd was five months pregnant.
