Simon, don't buy Paula that toaster just yet.

We may have been rooting for yesterday's Abdul engagement rumor to be true but no such luck.

The Idol judge tells E!'s Ryan Seacrest she's not promised to boyfriend J.T. Torregiani, saying, "I am not engaged!"

But we're pretty sure she said it really nicely and then stood up and clapped for all the effort that went into the story.
