Former Sony exec Amy Pascal is opening up about the nightmare that was and still is the Sony cyber-hacking.

In a new interview with Women in the World's Tina Brown, the 56-year-old called the controversy surrounding her leaked emails "horrible" but "strangely freeing."

"I ran this company and I had to worry about everybody who was really scared," she said. "People were really scared, all of their social security was out there. People worried about their passports, people were worried about all kinds of things. But nagging in the back of my mind, and I kept calling, going, 'They don't have our emails, right? Tell me they don't have our emails.' 'No, no, no, no!' Well, then they did. That was a bad moment because you know what you write in emails."

In her leaked emails, Pascal called Angelina Jolie a "minimally talented spoiled brat" and also made racially charged jokes about President Barack Obama. According to Recode, Pascal said "Angie didn't care" about the digs.

"The first person I talked to was Angie after that email," Pascal insisted. "Everybody understood because we all live in this weird thing together called Hollywood. If we all actually were nice, it wouldn't work."

That said, Pascal later referred to celebrities as "bottomless pits of need."
