Dylan was honored with the title of MusiCares Person of the Year. He is one of the most famous folk rock singer-songwriters in the world and inspired civil rights and anti-war activists in the United States in the '60s with his music.

"I wasn't a pop songwriter; I never even wanted to be that," USA Today quoted Dylan as saying in his acceptance speech. "But it was good that it happened."

At the event, Bruce Springsteen performed a cover of the singer's famous 1973 song "Knockin' on Heaven's Door, which featured a guitar solo by Tom Morello, a frequent Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performer and former member of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, the newspaper reported, adding that Neil Young closed the ceremony with a rendition of Dylan's 1963 hit "Blowin' in the Wind.
