It almost went without saying that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were going to make jokes about the Sony hacking scandal at the Golden Globes, but we didn't expect them to bring in Margaret Cho to further their joke!

Cho, dressed as a North Korean general in order to play the supposedly newest member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, faced backlash for her performance as Cho Young Ja from viewers, with some claiming it was extremely racist.

Twitter user @AlexJamesFitz wrote, "How do you make fun of North Korea via impressions without coming off as broadly racist?" But @MurseOfTheYear tweeted at Cho directly, posting, "Wow this is some of the most racist s--t I've ever seen on tv @margaretcho. Didn't you fight your whole career to avoid being a stereotype?"

@onomatotwittah tweeted, "wtf Margaret Cho? 2 smart, talented female comics add a 3rd and give us this? lazy, stereotypical, racist & not even funny. what a waste."

But the Drop Dead Diva star isn't letting the haters get away with their criticisms. She took to Twitter as well to fight back, even addressing her own nationality to help prove her point.

Cho continued to make jokes at her own expense on Twitter, writing, "I'm not playing the race card. I'm playing the rice card. #hatersgonwait #winnersgonpun."

Her fans stood behind her and also tweeted their support, saying her bit was "funny as hell" and "awesome."

This isn't Cho's first go-around dressing up as a general. She previously played the late Kim Jong-il on 30 Rock and also tackled Kim Jong-un, which earned her an Emmy nomination.

Some are calling for the comedienne to host next year's show, including three-time hosts Poehler and Fey, according to USA Today.
