Two pioneers of the trade, together for all to enjoy.

Oprah Winfrey reunited with Ellen DeGeneres for Friday's Ellen, and theirs was quite the mutual admiration society of two.

The pair had enjoyed each other's company at Oprah's recent private Selma screening and gospel brunch at her home in Montecito, Calif., and they reminisced about the selfie opportunities that arose, including Ellen's shot of herself with Oprah and Portia de Rossi that was basically a picture of Oprah with pieces of Ellen and Portia's faces along the sides.

"It looks good of you, right?" Ellen quipped to her guest.

My neighbor, @Oprah's on the show tomorrow. Perhaps you?ve heard of her.

"Very nice light on my face," Oprah agreed, adding, "No you were the one who started all this!"

"All this" meaning the selfie craze. (Which Ellen didn't really start, she just helped make it a thing you now do mid-broadcast at the Oscars.)

"I don't know if I started it," Ellen replied, "but here's the thing: We took a better one but I didn't want to tweet it out because there was a leaf in your face. I wanted the picture to be good of  you."

"That was nice of you," Oprah offered. "I still think of you at the Oscars in that moment."

Who doesn't?!

"You changed the selfie world," she added with utmost gravity. "You changed the selfie world."

Oprah and Ellen, who both have birthdays to celebrate this month, also reminisced about last year's gift-giving, Oprah saying that she was watering the orchid that Ellen gave her a year ago and her "goal was to keep it for a year, and I did."

"And now you're done?" Ellen asked.

Watch the whole clip to see what Oprah gave Ellen that doesn't sound nearly as nice as an orchid, and watch when Oprah is joined by Selma stars David Oyelowo and Carmen Ejoga—and David does a heck of an Oprah impression!
