If these two thoughts haven't entered your mind while holiday shopping, then you're lying to yourself: first, "I have no idea what to buy for [insert loved one here]," and second, "If I win the lottery tonight, this is the first thing I'm buying for myself." Yep, you know what we're talking about.

And those are exactly the questions we asked ourselves today. What would we buy ourselves if we were on a Jay Gatsby budget? Red-carpet-worthy scarlet dresses come to mind, along with envy-inducing color-blocked ponchos. As for what we can't wait to buy for our loved ones, moms, besties and boys, we've topped the list with everything from leather to luxe hair treatments.

Ready for some gifting inspiration? Read on to find out all the things we're wishing for this year, plus what we're snagging for friends and fam!

Jacqueline Lee, Photo Editor
Wish List:
Leica M 7 in Chrome, $4,995
"I think I have been dreaming of owning a Leica all of my life. They really are the best, most beautiful camera. I can't promise I've been good enough this year to deserve one, but it's top of my Christmas list anyway!"

For the Guys: Mulberry Clipper Holdall, $1,000 and Mulberry Leather Cardholder, $140
"The guys on my Christmas list are the always the toughest to buy for, and there's no way I'm getting them what they ask for (socks!). I love this Clipper Holdall from Mulberry, it's a total timeless classic and however rumpled the rest of you looks after a 10 hour flight, having it on your arm will give you an edge. Plus, for the not millionaire's amongst us, the leather cardholder is beautifully made and makes a lovely personal gift."

Wish List:
Monogrammed Burberry Colour Block Check Blanket Poncho, $1,395
"Few pieces of clothes make me swoon, but this is one of them. I'm hopelessly in love with open ponchos, and the Burberry monogrammed blanket is the ultimate version. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley rocks hers all the time, and I love how she accessorizes it with over-the-knee boots or floppy panamas. Other celeb fans include Cara Delevingne, Olivia Palermo and Sarah Jessica Parker, ergo I'm in really good company."

For the Boys: Burberry Brit Eau de Toilette, $60
"Classic scent. Classic gift. I always worry that when I gift a guy cologne he'll just think of it on the same level as Axe body spray or deodorant, but this is cologne out of this world. It's an appropriate gift for any guy—boyfriend, best friend, dad—and there's no worrying about size or if it's something he really needs (trust me, he does). Selfishly, I love giving this to guys so I can smell it more often. I've even snuck it back a few times and spritzed it in my room—it just smells so dayum good!"

Wish List:
Anthropologie Ravine Flared Dress, $298
"I've found the perfect holiday dress. Like, of all time. Ever. If I opened this Anthropologie frock on Christmas morning I would promptly change out of my PJs  and wear it all day long. Then I'd pull it out  again on New Year's Eve. And Every December after that. "

For My Besties: Fresh Sugar Cravings Kissing Trio, $28 and Netflix Gift Cards
"Pretty much all year my friends ask me if I have any extra lipsticks or balms laying around the office. So I know this trio is the perfect present and will last them at least until next Christmas. But that's not all, I also like to stash a Netflix gift card inside each envelope —because nothings says holidays like more couch time."

Wish List:
Venyx Madagascar 9-karat gold multi-stone ring, $4,270
"'Tis the season to put a ring on it (even—or especially—for the #treatyoself set). This holiday, I'd love an ornate statement ring to make its way on my finger. (You hear that universe?) This ultra-luxe, blackened gold design by Venyx fits the bill: A 9-karat stunner swathed in multihued sapphires, tsavorites and amethysts. Also, the ring's tortoise shell design has good fortune behind it: Some eastern cultures believe turtles represent good luck and longevity, which are two things I'd like with me in the New Year."

For Mom: Moroccanoil Luxurious Hydration Set, $72
"I hail from a cold, distant land named New York, where winters seem to be getting longer (and whiter). With an extended snowy season comes dry skin, so I'm thinking of giving my mom Moroccanoil's Luxurious Hydration Set, which includes a rich oil-infused hair serum, body soufflé and hand cream. Who says your skin needs to be anything less than dewy in December?"
