Talk about high art.

Tommy Lee set a new record yesterday by getting a tattoo while flying 45,000 feet in the air.

Huh?

Here's what went down:

Mario Barth of Starlight Tattoo gave the Mötley Crüe drummer a black and gray tattoo of a peacock on his right thigh, as they flew from Burbank to Miami in a private Gulfstream jet.

The stunt has landed Lee and Barth in the Guinness Book of World Records for "First-Ever to Perform a Tattoo in High Altitude."

"I actually came up with the idea a couple of years ago, and I was just waiting for the right guy to do it with it because it's so unusual," Barth says.

And we all know how much Lee loves the unusual.

The tattooing lasted for most of the five-hour flight. "I put the tattoo machine down a minute before we touched down," says Barth, whose client roster includes Lenny Kravitz, Ja Rule and Nikki Sixx

Now, the Guinness Book of World Records may want to look into deeming this adventure as the world's most expensive tattoo. Barth is keeping mum on who fronted the bill, but said it cost about $150,000.
