The road to success hasn't always been easy for Dane Cook.

The 42-year-old stand-up comic, who is one of only a few comedians to sell out Madison Square Garden, opens up about his childhood in a brand new episode of Untold With Maria Menounos.

"My dad drank and sometimes when things would get a little tumultuous, I would start doing skits," the Good Luck Chuck actor recalls. "I would try to do anything I could to distract and keep them from getting too over the top."

Cook remembers gathering with his family and laughing while watching shows like Saturday Night Live. It was those experiences that led him to want to be a comedian at the age of 15. "It's kind of cheesy, but I felt like it was my calling," he says.

"You know that feeling when you're in the waiting room, waiting for a doctor's appointment or a dentist appointment? It was basically that for 10 f--king years, just waiting for a moment when somebody would give me a break to participate in something," the My Best Friend's Girl star explains of his journey to fame.

But, the life of a comedian isn't always as humorous as one might expect.

"When you're off stage, that's when you have to keep getting out there in life because that silence after you get the applause and the smiles and the appreciation, the silence can be deafening," Cook explains.

Rosie O'Donnell, Jim Carrey and the late Robin Williams have all struggled with depression. Doctors are attempting to find drug-free methods to treat depression and host Maria Menounos volunteered to have her brain scanned to determine any risk factors. Watch the clip and find out her results!
