The Beijing premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a little less star-studded than expected.

Fans hoping to spot Megan Fox on the red carpet were left disappointed after the 28-year-old actress developed a skin allergy forcing her to stay home for the evening.

Many fans were left surprised given the fact that on Sunday morning, the actress joined producers for a press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing to discuss the film's release. During the event, Fox even shared how beautiful Beijing was to look at outside her window.

Fast-forward a few hours later, though, and the actress ultimately had to pass on walking the carpet outside and attending the movie premiere.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing attended the special event in her place but not before Chinese media outfits speculated that Fox's allergy could have been caused by the polluted air.

Fox's people, however, insisted that that wasn't the case. "She had an allergic reaction but not because of the pollution," a spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

The adventure comedy, which was released in the United States this past August, is based on the popular franchise that features a fictional team of four teenage turtles.

When asked about her role, Fox couldn't help but share her enthusiasm.

"These movies feel like home to me," she told E! News. "It just feels right. My older sister exposed me to this when I was about five, and I was obsessed with it."

We're wishing Fox a quick and speedy recovery!
