InstagramOn the season finale of #RichKids of Beverly Hills, EJ Johnson made the announcement that he would be going forward with a weight loss surgery.
A source confirms to E! News that EJ received the gastric sleeve surgery in early August, shortly after filming of the reality series' second season wrapped.
In the episode he explains, "A lot of people think it's the easy way out, but it's not. It's a step in the right direction, just a big push." He went on to say, "I feel very mature, kind of in the right place for it and I'm very ready to look cute. The surgery is a huge deal for me and it will certainly be a positive change."
According to a health information outlet, "Restrictive operations like gastric sleeve surgery make the stomach smaller and help people lose weight. With a smaller stomach, you will feel full a lot quicker than you are used to. This means that you will need to make big lifelong changes in how you eat—including smaller portion sizes and different foods—in order to lose weight."
The self-proclaimed "diva" came out to TMZ over a year ago and numerous times he's publicly said how supportive his family has always been.
EJ was a guest on Fashion Police not long after the big reveal and while on set, the late Joan Rivers asked him about his relationship with his father, Magic Johnson. He explained, "We go shopping together all the time. He helps me pick out clothes and bags and stuff like that." He added that the two of them "share a common love of fashion and traveling."
