Chloë Grace Moretz is speaking out about the recent leak of private naked celebrity photos.
"No one is safe," the 17-year-old actress told me at the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting her new action thriller, The Equalizer (in theaters Sept. 26). "I think we live in a [world] where you take the picture and you never know what's going to happen.
"I think it's a huge, huge, huge invasion of privacy and I think what you do on your own time you should be able to protect it," Moretz continued. "And you should be able to not let people see it because people do things in...relationships with their significant other and they don't need some 14-year-old boy in Minnesota to know what you look like in our most intimate setting."
Naked and scantily-clad pictures of Jennifer Lawrence, as well as other racy pics resembling other celebrities, surfaced online on Aug. 31 and sent Twitter and Reddit users into a frenzy and spurred speculation about another celebrity hacking case.
Naked pics of Warm Bodies star Teresa Palmer with her former boyfriend of a year Scott Speedman were also among the leaked pics.
The Aussie actress broke her silence about the photos while at a TIFF party for her indie Kill Me Three Times.
"I have so much to say about the subject," she exclusively told me. "I wish I could. It's actually a federal investigation so I'm not allowed to say anything about it but of course, it's an interesting situation."
Despite the drama, Palmer was able to put it behind her during her trip to Toronto.
"I'm so blessed in my life and I'm happy and I'm here with my family," she said. "Life's too beautiful to be mean and to have strange reactions and stuff. I'm having a good night."
