Kanye West puts up a big, bad rapper front, but at the heart of it all he's still a sweet kid from Chicago.
Alejandro Jodorowsky, a Chilean-French filmmaker and artist, read Yeezus' tarot cards on Wednesday. The multitalented avant garde enthusiast, 85, tweeted a picture of his "very pleasant" meeting with Mr. West, 37, and confirmed what we already suspected: Kanye is a kid at heart!
"I saw an honest being, with a beautiful childlike soul," Mr. Jodorowsky revealed (we translated his original tweet into English). "He puts on a big show. I read him his Tarot."
Huh. Well, 'Ye wasn't the only one trying to look ahead with a little help from the divine. The "I Am a God" rapper was joined by the "enthusiastic artists" that make up his "creative team," as well as Her director Spike Jonze.
Kanye was also surrounded by creative people looking ahead to the future yesterday, when he served as a speaker on Cannes Lions' International Festival of Creativity's "Technology, Culture and Consumer Adoption: Learning to Read the Cultural Landscape" panel.
He told the audience that he finds "the Internet as a whole" to be "f--king ugly," suggesting that, "just as a simple task, we could clean that up."
Kanye clarified, charmingly, that he's "not in the construction business," and urged the audience to "remember Rome wasn't built in one day."
"But," he continued, "the Internet is the new Rome."
Interpret as you will.
