With shooting underway for Pitch Perfect 2, we couldn't wait to catch up with Skylar Astin. Yes, we wanted info on the sequel but we also hoped to get to know the flick's main man a little better. So we chatted with the 26-year-old on his personal style, his go-to karaoke songs, favorite New York City hotspots (he's a native, after all) and his admiration for co-star Anna Kendrick and director Elizabeth Banks. Skylar even revealed which pop star he would love to have join the cast. The answer may surprise you!

Any hints as to what you will be singing in Pitch Perfect 2?
I did sneak a peek in what I am singing but there is no way I can mention anything because it can change at any minute.

Tell us why you love Anna Kendrick?
I love Anna Kendrick because I think she is a consummate professional. She is funny and I think there is a reason why she is very successful because she is very ambitious. Plus she is the "cups" girl. Why wouldn't you love her?

How is Elizabeth Banks as the first time director?
I feel completely confident with her at the helm because in the first one she was our lead producer. Not a lot of people know that so she was there every single day. She decided what angle to make my hair go! I mean, she is a perfectionist and she is also really cool so I know I get along with her and I know she can ask me to do anything and I will do it because I trust her. I am excited because its like cool cousin Liz directing the sequel that's what it feel like.

Do you have any funny set stories?
Durring acapella bootcamp, when we were doing the rehearsal part, it began a very playful yet interesting feud between the guys and the girls just because in the story its supposed to feel that way we would just tease each other while rehearsing. I always thought that was kind of fun because we really felt the vibe of competition and this like campy atmosphere.

What pop star do you think should be in the movie?
There is like a rumor online about Demi Lovato—I have know idea where that would fit in. I would like to see though Dave Mathews because I used to go to his concerts when I was younger. I think it would be cool if he was like Jesse's older brother or something like that like cool and hip or maybe like his uncle or older cousin.

Do you like karaoke? What song is your go-to?
I tend to not do karaoke cause I think karaoke is intended for people who dont' do this for a living. I always thinks its kind of tacky when a singer who can actually sing goes up there and rips into something. So if I ever do karaoke I have to have a couple of drinks and I have to do something that does not require a lot of vocal ability like a rap like the Beastie Boys or Dr. Dre or Spice Girls.

How would you describe your personal style?
I like to look like I didn't t try so hard but I happen to look classy with a sense of style, humor and relaxed kind of feel. I never want to look stiff, never want to button my collar all the way to the top but I also want to look put together.

Favorite places to shop in NYC?
Rag & Bone and everything that's cool comes from my brother because he just sends me a packages of Grungy Gentleman clothing. I happen to be wearing four garments now as we speak.

What are you most comfortable wearing?
Sweat pants. Cotton citizen Grungy Gentleman sweat pants to be exact!

What do you always pack in your suitcase when you travel?
Cloths, toothbrush... but something weird that I pack with my younger brother, Milan, is boxing gloves and mits because we always hit the pads when we see each other. That takes up lots of space unfortunately.

Essentials you always bring on the plane?
Head phones you can't live without them and my iPhone so I can play music.

The Bowery Hotel.
