Happy 16th birthday, Elle Fanning!
The Marie Claire cover star is celebrating her sweet sixteen today and couldn't help but squeal with excitement when E! News caught up with the birthday babe at the mag's Fresh Faces party last night, held at Soho House in West Hollywood.
So how is she celebrating?!
"Sweet sixteen it's the big one!" Fanning exclaimed on the red carpet, while looking stunning in a silk red dress. "I went back to school on Monday so I'll be in school tomorrow which is kind of exciting too because your friends will bring you cupcakes. But yeah, I had a dinner before because I wanted my sister to be in town so we had something a couple months ago, but tomorrow I'll probably just eat cake and go out to eat."
Sounds like a fabulous day! So will she also be getting her driver's license?
"I don't have my permit," she admitted. "I'm like studying and all this stuff, and I'm like 'When's the time to learn?'" Dakota Fanning's little sister said before adding that she has "not yet" started practicing driving.
Elle enjoyed dinner in honor of her birthday at Café Antonio in Beverly Hills with her mom, dad, two young guys, an older couple and one other woman. The group went to dinner around 6 p.m. and stayed for about 2 hours, according to an eyewitness, who revealed that Elle seemed very happy and was laughing a lot.
The young beauty has a number of big projects on the horizon, including Maleficent, in which she stars with Angelina Jolie.
"It was super exciting," she said of filming the Disney flick. "Everything was so fun. I think working with Angelina so much, it's kind of a dream to say that you even met her, and let alone to be in scenes with her, was really, really cool."
And while she didn't have any tips courtesy of Jolie to reveal, she did give some insight as to how the mother of six prepped for her character.
"She really got into her character in a way. Like she was very, so into the details of her clothes. She came into rehearsals on the first day…with her Maleficent staff and she was in normal clothes, but then had that. And she was like, 'I have to get used to it; it's part of my character.' I thought that was so cool."
Very cool, indeed. Happy birthday, girl!
