Dan Bucatinsky is trading in the drama of Scandal for the comedy of marriage on NBC.

The Emmy winner will star opposite Casey Wilson and Ken Marino in Marry Me, a comedy pilot from Happy Endings co-creator David Caspe, E! News has confirmed.

In the pilot, Bucatinsky will play Kevin 2, the husband to Tim Meadows' Kevin 1, parents to Annie. The show follows couple Annie (Wilson) and Jake (Marino), who get engaged and quickly learn being an engaged couple isn't as easy as it seems. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor-producer will appear as a guest star in the pilot and likely recur should it go to series.

And now for your Scandal spoiler warning.

Bucatinsky's James Novak was gunned down by Jake (Scott Foley) to cover up several misdeeds (including a murder). The veteran producer said he‘s excited to act more.

"I'm excited for people, who for three years now have sort of thought I was a regular on Scandal, to realize who I am now, who have seen my work, and I'm eager for people to know that I'm an actor and available for work and excited to take on the next challenge," Bucatinsky told E! News. "I think a lot of people just assumed I was a regular for many seasons and didn't necessarily make people feel like they could knock on my door, but they can."

Marry Me may just be the beginning. Bucatinsky, who won the Emmy for Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Scandal, has quite a few shows he'd like to appear on.

NEWS: The Comeback may be coming back

"I'd love to be on Parenthood. I'd love to be on Masters of Sex," he told E! News. "I'd love to be on Mad Men, there's so many shows I'm a fan of, Modern Family…there's a lot of great, fun writing out there in a lot of different genres and I'm looking forward to, after this journey I've been on with Scandal and reawakening in me his love of acting, taking on some new challenges."

As for what's next, Bucatinsky said he's still consulting on this season of Grey's Anatomy and will follow that up with the new season of Web Therapy, finishing a new season of Who Do You Think You Are? and a new project with producing partner Lisa Kudrow, It Got Better.

"Lisa and I have been busy with our projects," he said. "I'm going to bury myself in that."
