"This is the best concert of the year, I'm honored to be here," presenter Neil Patrick Harris said as he took the stage. And NPH was just about to make it better, announcing Daft Punk's second-ever performance on TV.
(The other was six years ago, also at the Grammys.)
"They are joined for their second coming by a natural wonder of our musical world who has won 25 Grammys and a Lifetime Achievement Award and written countless classics in the key of life," NPH continued. That would be Stevie Wonder.
And, of course, Pharrell Williams was also onstage, wearing a slightly smaller hat than before.
The set was an old-school recording studio (appropriately enough). The jamming was funking. And after Pharrell and Stevie smoothly bypassed some mic issues early on, Daft Punk finally appeared, decked out in all white, to add some techno flair and samples of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger."
And if that all sounds dope, it's because it was.
And the crowd went crazy.
Paul McCartney was getting down. Beyoncé was getting down. Yoko Ono was getting down. Which, can we just say: Damn, great performance, but more importantly, we really want to party with Yoko Ono.
