Directors Guild Awards: Ben Affleck Presents Gravity's Alfonso Cuarón With Top Honor

Alfonso Cuarón's awards season streak continues.

The Gravity director took home the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film top honor at the Directors Guild Awards on Saturday, Jan. 25. in Los Angeles. 

Cuarón bested 12 Years a Slave's Steve McQueenCaptain Phillips' Paul Greengrass, The Wolf of Wall Street's Martin Scorsese and American Hustle's David O. Russell.

Ben Affleck, who won last year for Argo, presented Cuarón with his first DGA. The Mexican filmmaker also celebrated his win with Gravity's leading lady Sandra Bullock.

The winner of the DGA Award has gone on to win the Academy Award 58 times in the last 65 years—but one of those exceptions notably came last year, when Affleck was the DGA favorite for Argo and then wasn't even nominated for the Oscar.

The show was held at the at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza and was hosted by Jane Lynch.
