The Body Book may be authored by Cameron Diaz, but the blond bombshell had a bit of help from her famous friends while she was busy penning her first health and fitness tome.
While speaking with E! News' Catt Sadler, the 41-year-old stunner shared how pals Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore aided the actress throughout the creative process, noting that her BFFs gave her a solid lesson in authenticity.
Diaz recalls watching the Iron Man star pen her first cookbook, admitting Paltrow's passion in the kitchen served as an inspiration for the Bad Teacher beauty.
"I watched her through her process of writing her book, the end of her first book and fully on her second book, and I just thought her process was so great because I would go over and sneak—because she would do all her recipes and she would go in there and she's such an amazing cook—and I got to taste it all!" the former model gushed.
Paltrow currently has two best-selling cookbooks 2011's My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness and 2013's It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great.
"And watching her do it and how she really sat down and she was thoughtful about it and the fact that she's a mother and she has all these other things that she does and that was her passion—it was really her," she continued. "I saw really how authentic those books are to her, how authentic all of it was and it really made me understand that you have to do that. You can't in any way or shape be afraid to show who you are and be authentic to yourself, so that was a good lesson."
A valuable lesson she was also taught by her other best friend Drew Barrymore.
"And the same with Drew. I mean Drew, her book is absolutely 1,000-percent authentic to who she is. It's something she's been doing for probably as long as I've known her is sort of finding these hearts all over the place," Diaz said of The Wedding Singer's book Find It in Everything. "And it's something in the community of our girlfriends that we all would send her pictures when we would find it and say 'Here it is! We found it!' So it's really authentic to who she is as well."
Too cute! And the sage advice Cam received from her pals allowed the blond beauty to produce an honest—and authentic—product.
"So the two of them really gave that example to me as how you really have to be authentic to who you are when you present something to the world in this way," she said. "It took me a year to write this book and I really put my energy into it, my focus into it, it really mattered to me that it was authentic to who I am."
"To work with Leslie Mann and Kate Upton, who are just two of the greatest shining bright beauties. Leslie Mann blows my mind, she is so fearless, and we didn't know Kate beforehand, but she literally just slipped right in [under our wings]," the Hollywood vet revealed. "We kept saying, 'We're your parents. We're your moms, one day we'll tell you who your dad is. We'll let you know who the donor was,'" adding, "She's fantastic. And Leslie, Kate and I had a great time."
