Kim Kardashian is taking an increased interest in the world of art.

The 33-year-old E! star paid a visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art yesterday afternoon where she enjoyed a private tour with philanthropist Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen and the museum's director.

"Kim Kardashian came around 4:30 p.m.," LACMA Director of Communications Miranda Carroll tells E! News exclusively. "They stayed for a couple of hours visiting the museum. [They] went to the James Turrell retrospective. They did have a private visit and strolled through the museum with our director, Michael Govan. We often get celebrity visitors."

"This is not the first time Kim Kardashian has been to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art," Carroll added. "She attended [the] art and film gala a few years ago. Contemporary art is of interest to celebrities. It has been getting fashionable to be interested in art and particularly in contemporary art right now."

Carroll also tells us that Kim's fiancé Kanye West visited the museum last June to see the Stanley Kubrick exhibition. Kim also attended the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion opening gala in fall 2010.

Kim shared a pic of her and Arrillaga-Andreessen during their visit in Instagram yesterday, writing, "Fabulous day of philanthropy brainstorming and LACMA visit with Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen @LAAF."

Carroll tells us she doesn't know what philanthropic topics were discussed during the private tour but says Kim's appearance at the museum was more of a normal visit that an official meeting.
