Chelsea Handler's help to end AIDS is no laughing matter.

The E! funnylady not only hosted last night's Inspiration Gala for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) at L.A.'s Milk Studios, but she also donated a whopping $100,000 to the organization.

"I'm going to give $100,000," she said. "I hate going to these things—you get a little buzz going and then whoopsy! I have a traveler's check in my car."

And she wasn't the only one chipping in. Fashion Police star Kelly Osbourne wrote a check for $5,000.

The generous gifts were inspired by Aileen Getty, who made a surprise donation of $1 million.

Sharon Stone was on hand to help call the live auction with Andrea Fiucynzk. Partygoers bid on safaris to Africa, artwork by Ed Ruscha and Catherine Opie and VIP tickets to the next Versace fashion show in Milan. "I could come down there and make out with you for a minute," the Casino actress offered one bidder to bid higher.

The evening raised $3.5 million for amfAR.

Goldie Hawn was honored with the Inspiration Award by her longtime friend Lily Tomlin. Cheering Hawn on were Kurt Russell and son Oliver Hudson. Also honored with Getty and the Hugo Boss company. "One of the greatest things in my life has been basically finding happiness and giving back," the First Wives Club star said.

The legendary Grace Jones closed the evening with an extraordinary performance that included her hits "La Vie En Rose" and "Pull Up to the Bumper."
