Operation USA is privately funded and has been working in the Philippines after major disasters since 1986, according to a press release. Since Typhoon Haiyan, they have "provided water purification supplies" and are "sending electric generators and other emergency relief materials." They are working to continue to deliver aid to the hardest hit areas.

Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines nearly a week ago on Friday, Nov. 8, and the extent of the destruction is still unknown.

Philippine officials estimate that the death toll from the terrible storm is in the thousands and many people are continuing to suffer from hunger and lack of water and shelter.
