Addressing the lack of official respect accorded his fellow funnymen over the years, the Tropic Thunder star is letting the folks behind the Academy Awards know he feels about the suggestion of adding a comedy category to Hollywood's Big Night.

Which, ya know, we've only been saying since forever. But director-slash-producer extraordinaire Judd Apatow, who excels in making flicks generally featuring funny men, is crowning a new box-office champ.
J's latest box office blitz, Bridesmaids, has proven that a female-fueled laughfest can be just as successful as Seth Rogen getting stoned or Steve Carell getting his chest waxed. Even more successful, actually:

Just days after we kinda, sorta rang the death knell with regards to her movie career—seeing how Jennifer's Body Jonah Hex her latest film Passion Play is bypassing theaters and heading straight to oblivion DVD on May 31—the actress may have just found a savior in Judd Apatow.
Can Kristen Wiig Handle a Female Fight Club With These Bridesmaids?
It might be a huge honor, but it aslo sounds like being someone's maid of honor is a stressful, full-time job. And if you're Kristen Wiig, just reading the list of "duties" is enough to have you chugging wine straight from the bottle.
She isn't entirely on her own though. Bridesmaids is the latest laughfest from producer Judd Apatow, and while Wiig might have the top spot, she's getting plenty of help from the rest of the bridal entourage...And it seems like things are coming together nicely.
Knocked Up Spawns Paul Rudd-Leslie Mann Spinoff

Judd Apatow just can't keep the camera off his wife. Or off Paul Rudd.
Leslie Mann and Rudd are onboard to star as the same combative couple they played in Knocked Up in a spin-off film to be written and directed by Apatow, Universal Entertainment confirmed Thursday to E! News.
No word yet on whether Katherine Heigl, who played Mann's younger sister in the comedy's bromantic predecessor, and onscreen baby daddy Seth Rogen will reprise their roles, as well. (Remember, Heigl may have burned that bridge...)
After making his super-successful feature directorial debut with The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Apatow's name has been linked to every other comedy out there, but mainly as an executive producer. After Knocked Up and Funny People, the untitled Mann-Rudd project will be his fourth movie as a director.
The studio would like cameras to start rolling later this year with an eye on a June 1, 2012, release.

Bromance expert Judd Apatow has teamed up with Paul Reubens to develop a new Pee-wee film for the big screen, Daily Variety reports.
"Let's face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman," Apatow told the trade. "I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens—who is an extraordinary and groundbreaking actor and writer. It's so great to watch him return with such relevance."

It doesn't matter which team you're on when you've got a movie to promote. Or an Olympic medal (or seven) to show off. Or when you've fallen behind on your monthly quota for publicly dissing your clothes-eschewing almost-son-in-law (what, like she was gonna turn to Letterman?).
NBC has unveiled the initial guest list for Kevin Eubanks and Jay Leno's return to The Tonight Show next week, and while it boasts its fair share of big names—and more than its fair share of podium-standers—the star power isn't exactly blinding…unless, of course, you're particularly smitten with the network's own talent pool, reality guidettes, Simon Cowell, and, um, E! talent.
