Watch: Amy Poehler Interviews Carrie Underwood at Emmys

Carrie Underwood may be performing at the 2013 Emmy Awards tonight, but she has another live performance on her mind: The Sound of Music.

Underwood will star as Maria Von Trapp in NBC's live adaptation of the beloved musical and Amy Poehler commandeered E!'s microphone on the red carpet to ask her about it.

After asking Carrie about her dress and jewels, like a red carpet pro, Amy turned talk to The Sound of Music.

"It's three hours of live TV. I got to memorize lines," Carrie explained to Amy and Ryan Seacrest. "I don't know how you guys do it!"

To which Amy quipped, "We barely do it. We have those things called cue cards."

As for the doing the show live, Carrie admits she's feeling the pressure but says, "That's what I loved about it...[But] I say whatever comes out. I've never had to memorize lines before. I've never had to really buckle down."

"They have such respect for the whole project, everyone who's working on it. I move to New York in like a week, so it's going to be crazy," she continued. "I'm going to be there for a couple months."

Carrie says she's watched the movie version (in which Julie Andrews plays Maria), but warns fans, "This is the musical version, so it's different."

Then Amy did what Amy does best and asked the hard hitting questions, "Carrie, can we talk religion, politics and do some swear words as well? Let's get into it."

Oh and for the record, the gown is Romona Keveza.
