Jake Gyllenhaal Talks Getting Tattooed "Daily" for New Movie: Does He Have Any Real-Life Secret Ink?

In Jake Gyllenhaal's latest movie Prisoners, you might notice the hunky actor sporting some new tattoos.

Gyllenhaal says the fake ink, which had to be applied to his neck, hand and other body parts every day of filming, really helped him get into the character of a mysterious detective trying to find two lost children.

"It was a daily thing," he told us of the tattoos at last night Prisoners premiere in Beverly Hills. "The idea just came from the fact that I didn't really want them to be seen, strangely. We had them put on and then it was about hiding them and I think that gave me something to play in a scene."

He continued, "It was interesting for me to play against something. And that hiding of something, those things that you might be ashamed of as a character, were sort of personified in the tattoos."

"It was Jake's idea," Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve dished to us of the tats. "I'm very inspired by his ideas. I think he's a brilliant actor."

But does Gyllenhaal have any real-life secret tattoos?

    He smiled, "No."
