AKM-GSIIreland Baldwin is very much in love, and she's not afraid to show it (or talk about it, in this case).
The 17-year-old model gushed about her boyfriend Slater Trout, who she met through "mutual flirting efforts" on Twitter, telling People magazine, "I would say he is my best friend. We have our moments but that's rare. We can act stupid in public, private or wherever and we are always laughing."
Awww.
The couple make it work despite being in a long distance relationship (Baldwin lives in Los Angeles while Trout lives in Maui), by making sure to visit each other at least once a month, going back and forth between the two cities.
And the 18-year-old stand-up paddleboarder shares that when he does get time with his ladylove, they make it fun and interesting.
"We don't do normal stuff," he tells the mag. "We go paddle boarding with humpback whales in Maui. We go on athletic dates. And very romantic ones too. Like we will go to like a bluff and star gaze and go on trail runs and walk the dogs."
So far this romance seems to be smooth sailing, and Ireland's mother, Kim Basinger, approves of her daughter's boyfriend. But father Alec Baldwin has yet to meet the man that's made his way into his little girl's heart.
"Dad hasn't personally face-to-face met him but he has virtually met him and he loves him, thus far," Ireland said. Trout added, "We've talked on the phone; he's an awesome guy. He said I'd love to meet you soon. Come to New York, there's great surf out here."
Looks like some exciting bonding time may take place in the very near future.
Although Ireland is head over heels for her beau, she's not going to rush into anything too serious, too soon. "I have never met anyone who is a more incredible person in my life," she said. But "we both have lives to live and we both have careers and a lot of aspirations and things to do before we think about that."
Smart girl.
