Ireland Baldwin is embarking on her career as a model, but the 17-year-old blond beauty is already a social media superstar.
In fact, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's daughter is so prolific on Twitter (and so sometimes-sexy, sometimes self-effacing on Instagram), that she actually met her boyfriend, stand-up paddleboarder Slater Trout, somewhere in the midst of all the online chatter.
In the June issue of Vanity Fair, Ireland confirms she and Slater, 18, met through "mutual flirting efforts on the Internet," explaining that Twitter is "a modern-day public diary of your thoughts. You have to be careful, but at the same time it's kind of fun not to be too careful."
Part of Ireland's charm is that despite having Kim's good looks and Alec's wit, she still manages to seem down to earth. One of the reasons behind that? Well, she hasn't always been the picture of confidence.
"I went through a lot in middle school, and you always try so many different looks and try to be so many different people," she explained. "I finally realized I'm awkward, I'm lanky, and I'm going to embrace it—make fun of myself and just laugh."
But Ireland does take her career seriously, and she's willing to work at it. "For any kid raised under the circumstances I was raised—having a famous family—people often think you have everything laid out for you and you don't need to work," she said. "But everyone has to work for what they want, and everybody has to make a name for themselves."
Very true. So far, Ireland's doing a damn good job of just that!
