Who knew Reid Scott was such a prime candidate for marriage?!
The Veep star exclusively confirmed to E! News tonight that he is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Elspeth Keller.
He told us on the red carpet at the HBO comedy's second-season premiere in L.A. that he recently popped the question in Palm Springs, Calif.—a surprise trip for his real-life leading lady.
And, like a true gentleman, he asked for her dad's permission, first.
Scott—who also mentioned that he is super-relieved to have finally been able to give the diamond ring he'd been hoarding over to his fiancée—has sounded pretty self-aware when it comes to romance in the past.
"I guess, probably—and it's a pretty general thing—putting the ‘I' before the ‘we,'" he told The Date Report in March 2012 of his biggest mistake when it comes to dating. "If you're going to be in a relationship in the first place, my philosophy has always been to look after the ‘we,' and hopefully they're doing the same thing. But when you start just looking out for yourself, that's when things—and you as a couple—start growing apart and it starts to crumble."
No signs of crumbling here.
