Suspected killer Christopher Dorner may finally be cornered.

All the major cable news networks, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and local affiliates broke into their regularly scheduled programming this afternoon to report that authorities may have honed in on the former LAPD officer's location after he allegedly committed a home invasion in Big Bear, Calif.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Dorner, who is the prime suspect in the deaths of three people, is believed to be behind a home invasion robbery that left a couple tied up in their house and then fled in their 2008 white Dodge pickup truck. A state Fish & Game ranger reportedly fired on the vehicle before he got away on state Route 38, possibly heading toward Cherry Valley.

Suspected killer's manifesto name-checks Charlie Sheen, Natalie Portman, other stars

CNN has independently reported meanwhile that the fugitive barricaded himself in a cabin where he opened fire and wounded two law enforcement officers whose conditions are unknown. The network quoted a police source as saying that Dorner is now "pinned down" in the mountainous region and a SWAT team has now surrounded the cabin.

The mayor of Big Bear Lakes, Jay Obernolte, also told CNN's The Situation Room that he's about 8 miles south of Big Bear Lake and is "contained," though he's not yet in custody.

"He won't be able to hide for long," said Obernolte. "Now it's only a matter of time."

Charlie Sheen urges suspected killer Christopher Dorner to call him

The massive manhunt for Dorner made national headlines last week after the ex-cop sent a package in the mail to CNN's Anderson Cooper containing a manifesto that was also posted online in which he not only threatened violence against law-enforcement officers and other authority figures but offered up rambling thoughts on a slew of celebrities.

While considering himself a big fan of such comics as Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Jon Stewart, he also expressed admiration for the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Natalie Portman, Christoph Waltz and Charlie Sheen among others. For his part, Sheen actually reached out to Dorner and urged the suspect to call him so they can "figure out together how to end this thing."
