Slater was partying in L.A.'s tony L'Elysee high-rise hotel just west of Beverly Hills all Sunday night into the wee hours of Monday. Apparently, the soiree was so loud that a peeved neighbor finally called police at 7:30 a.m.
Before police arrived, Slater--who witnesses say was tearing through the halls half-naked--got into a heated argument with his girlfriend. When the party host tried to play peacemaker, Slater allegedly pulled a Mike Tyson and chomped him in the gut.
Police finally trapped the 27-year-old thespian on a stairwell between the eighth and ninth floors of the building. Slater wasn't too keen about surrendering to police and, according to a Los Angeles police spokesman, slugged the arresting officer, while trying to grab his gun, E! News Daily reported.
The cops subdued Slater with a chokehold, according to E! News Daily, which caused the actor to pass out. Police escorted him to an area hospital. A police spokesman would not comment on whether Slater was intoxicated; however he did say that no drugs were found at the scene.
After his short sojourn to the emergency room, Slater was booked for three counts of assault with a deadly weapon (watch out for those incisors!) and one count of battery. He posted $50,000 bail and will be arraigned later this month.
Today's antics were the latest on Slater's rap sheet. In 1989, he was convicted of drunk driving after leading police on a high-speed chase. Five years later, he was grabbed by security guards at New York's JFK Airport after trying to enter the terminal while packing a 9mm pistol.
