Just because Kate Walsh is leaving Private Practice after season six that doesn't mean we've definitely seen the last of Dr. Addison Montgomery.

Walsh says she could pop back up on Grey's Anatomy. "There's always that possibiliy," she told me last night at Entertainment Weekly's pre-Emmy party at Fig & Olive in West Hollywood. "It's really up to Shonda [Rhimes]."

But would Walsh want to? "Of course," she said. "I'm open to anything. I'm ready for my next chapter, but never close the door."

That next chapter includes more than just collecting a paycheck. "I'm going to rest," said Walsh, 44. "I'm going to travel and work hopefully on other stuff and spend time with my family and friends."

Walsh announced in June on Bethenny Frankel's talk show, Bethenny, that season six would be her last on the Grey's spinoff. "It's been an incredible journey and an amazing ride and I'm hugely, hugely grateful," she said. "It's bittersweet. It's a huge chapter of my life. It's been eight years."

Walsh can currently be seen in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the movie adaptation of the teen-angst novel of the same name, playing Nina Dobrev and Logan Lerman's mom.
