Aly Raisman Sheds Tears After Losing Bronze Medal

U.S. gymnast ties for third during women's all-around final, but after officials' countback, drops to fourth place

Imagine training practically your whole life for this one moment—pretty intense, right?

U.S. gymnast Aly Raisman was one of many athletes to get emotional during the summer games in London, tearing up after failing to receive the bronze medal even though she had tied in third place with Russia's Aliya Mustafina after the Women's All-Around final.

What gives?

According to Olympic regulations, a tie result in a countback, meaning officials  go back and look at each competitor's combined execution score on the balance beam, bars and vault, followed by the highest combined difficulty score. Whoever had the highest score after that, would come out on top.

Unfortunately, Raisman's execution was a hair lower than Mustafina, ultimately putting her in fourth place.

But she's not the only Olympian we've seen get choked up during these games.
