Er, no, your eyes are not deceiving you.

Because while the two-and-a-half-minute first-look teaser trailer of The Canyons released this week looks, for all intents and purposes, like a particularly indulgent director's cut of the opening sequence of The Hills, rest assured, it is in fact the first footage from Lindsay Lohan's latest movie.

Of course, you'd be forgiven for assuming otherwise, what with her being completely MIA from the clip.

So what gives? Has LiLo's comeback already been cut short?

Nah. Neither Lindsay nor her erstwhile porn-star costar James Deen—nor, for that matter, any human beings at all—appear in the taster clip, which flashes iconic shots of Los Angeles to the sounds of the Dum Dum Girls' "Coming Down."

Call it more of a mood piece than a movie trailer.

In any case, it certainly looks good (so kudos to cinematographer Joey Fantastico), even if it doesn't exactly tell us anything about the production—previously described as an L.A. noir about sex, obsession, ambition and deceit—which films through the end of the month.

However, today wasn't entirely without new insight, as E! News has learned that director Gus Van Sant has joined the cast and will play a psychiatrist in the film.

So, does The Canyons' sneak peek pique your interest or make you want to head for the, well, hills?
