Twilight Tragedy at Comic-Con: Fan Killed in Car Accident

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the Twilight gang may not be touching down in San Diego for their tour de Comic-Con until later this week, but dedicated fans are already lining up outside the San Diego Convention Center in anticipation.

And today, tragedy struck when one of those fans was involved in a car accident and passed away.

The San Diego Police Department tells E! News, "A 53-year-old white female was killed in a pedestrian vs. vehicle fatality collision at the intersection 5th Ave. and Harbor Drive."

The preliminary investigation reveals that the woman was running across Harbor Drive, where she nearly ran into the path of a westbound vehicle. She tried to stop but tripped and fell into the car. She received massive head trauma."

Andra Brown of the SDPD explains, "The call came in at 9:22 am and she was pronounced dead at 9:51 am at the hospital…The 67-year-old white male driver of the car remained at the scene and was very cooperative during the investigation."

The woman—who was camping in line for the Breaking Dawn Part 2 Hall H panel held on Thursday—was said by fellow Twilight fans to be known as "Gisella G" on Twitter. Yesterday, "G" tweeted that she was one of the first people lining up in anticipation of Twilight.

The investigation into the fatality is still on-going.

The online Twilight community has taken to Twitter to show love for their fellow fan (starting the hashtag and one of the saga's stars, Nikki Reed has also sent her condolences, tweeting, "This is horrible. So sad. I'm speechless."

The studio reached out following the devestating news, saying, "Lionsgate, Summit and the entire Twilight community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year's convention in San Diego. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H."
