Turn on the lights and sound the sirens! Our favorite Los Angeles cops live to patrol another day, and we are celebrating Southland's renewal.

TNT has picked up the gritty cop drama for a fifth season, so how many more episodes will you get of Officer Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie) & Co.? And when will the small-screen LAPD be hitting the streets and onto your television? Find out now:

This news calls for a pool party in Castaic. Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, announced today the series would return in February 2013 for a 10-episode fifth season. All praise Michael Wright!

He said of the season's fourth season, "The show has not only solidified its impassioned fan base, but also picked up some new young-adult devotees along the way." Way to go, fans!

The series' fourth season brought the most heart-wrenching drama: We gasped when Officer John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz) desperately tried to save a boy from jumping off a building., wished for Detective Lydia Adams' (Regina King) to admit to the brass about her unexpected pregnancy, and threw things at our TV when left with a cliffhanger car wreck on Sunset Boulevard. The job is getting to our cops, and we can't wait to see them back on patrol in 2013.

Are you thrilled about Southland's renewal? Started a countdown calendar until February 2013? Sound off in the comments!
