Steady there, human beings. We know it is difficult waiting for renewal news on your favorite comedy, but we caught up with Joel McHale for his reaction to Community's Save One Show win. And what he thinks of the chances of a season four.
Did Joel's pick for our Save One Show competition come out victorious? The answer may surprise you. Plus, find out if Chevy Chase will be returning for a (fingers crossed) fourth season.
The recently departed One Tree Hill was actually Joel's guess for our competition winner, but he was pleasantly surprised by his own show's big win. "That's great. Wow. Thank you, online voters, seriously," he gushed. "Our fans often will say our show is a cult hit. And I'll say, 'No, our fans are part of a cult and they will kill for the show.' Which is fine. They are small, but they are powerful. I'll take that any day of the week."
Such appreciation for Community's passionate viewers, but will those impassioned fans get a season four? "I'm hopeful," he admits. "But it's one of those things, with network television you can never count on anything, so who knows? Dear god, I hope."
Watch Joel McHale talk to Kristin Dos Santos about Community's renewal chances:
With Community's future uncertain, will they also be losing castmembers? The feud between Chevy Chase and showrunner Dan Harmon has been making headlines for weeks, but is McHale sick of talking about it? "No, I loved answering questions about it in every interview I've done for the last three weeks. That's been totally wonderful." But he admits he can't picture a Community without Chase: "I can't imagine him not back. And everyone's like, 'Is he coming back?' and I'm like, 'I haven't heard anything to the contrary.' I'm assuming so."
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
