In the wilds of Hollywood, Donald Trump knows a thing or two about going in for the kill.
The Celebrity Apprentice overlord didn't disappoint when Extra got ahold of him in New York City to pick his brain about a host of watercooler topics.
First on the agenda: Trump's thoughts on all the uproar surrounding his sons' safari trip after photos surfaced of them hunting animals…
"They're expert hunters," Trump says in defense of his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
The younger Trumps earned the ire of animal activists when pics circulated yesterday of a safari trip they took last year.
The sons later shot back at critics, saying, "We have the utmost respect for nature and have always hunted in accordance with local laws and regulations."
Papa Trump rallied behind his sons by calling out the charitable instincts behind their hunting instincts: "I know they've given the meat and whatever they've hunted to the local tribes," he tells Extra.
But is Trump done giving a piece of his mind? Of course not!
Extra also asked him about Jon Hamm's recent comments on celebrity culture, in which the Mad Men star quips that "stupidity is certainly celebrated" and goes on to name-check celebutantes like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.
"If that celebrity sells, there is no reason why they shouldn't be using their celebrity to make money," he notes. "And they've done it, and they've done it very well, and I say my hat's off to both of them."
And what about the media circus surrounding Nicollette Sheridan's court smackdown with her former Desperate Housewives employers?
"The show saved her career," he says. "I just think it's ridiculous."
Oh, that Mr. Trump: Always taking shots. So that's where his sons got their killer aim!
